Having been in existence over 27 years, it can be said that Fátima Rendas was 'born' to preserve and divulge the art of Renaissance Lace ( Renaissance Lace is a very special art form exclusively native to the North East of Brazil). This continues to be the principal mission of this family business. Although modern and innovative, the fruition of the effort and entrepreneurship of fashion designer and artisan Maria de Fátima Xavier Mergulhão, was able to transform the gift inherited from her mother, Marieta Monteiro Xavier, into a stable and promising concern of a series of stores.

Together, mother and daughter, personally tend to the creative process of each and every piece, from its conception and design stages up to the final finishing work and the logistics of distribution to each store. With its headquarters' located at the "Casa da Cultura" in Recife, State of Pernambuco, and five affiliate stores distributed throughout the State of Pernambuco, and in the city of São Paulo, today Fátima Rendas is a well known and recognized brand throughout Brazil as well as abroad. Its handcrafted pieces are exported to Europe, the United States and Japan.

Regarded as true art work, the works produced by the Fátima Rendas brand have been highlighted in numerous national and international exhibitions. Some of Fátima Rendas works are part of its patrimony having received the UNESCO award, with many other pieces from its collections not only adorning embassies world wide, but also used for services at the Vatican City.
